I had lunch with my friend, DeBora Ricks, of, what else? www.DeBoraRicks.com You can get all her books there as well as editing/writing services! She is an author of multiple books-on relationships, how to know when to leave-“Love Addicted” and Write That Book! DeBora says 80% of the population want to write a book! Are they all authors? Of course not! I am writing a book-sorta part-memoir and a basic perspective on becoming a solo-entrepreneur… She helps birth your book.
We’ve known each other about 8 years. She will be my choice of editor for my book! Aw, isn’t that nice? No, she knows all about writing and editing books, that’s why! And she’s a friend! You never want to confuse the two.
Part of my 30 posts of gratitude-I wanted to tell DeBora how grateful I am she’s in my life! I just vacuumed through her new book, “Write That Book! She has found her niche and has a hit radio show on Internet radio,3rdThurs. @ 6:30pm! She, also, has made numerous TV appearances talking about relationships, two of her books are on that topic, so she’s an expert and she teaches about how to Write That Book each semester at Morgan University.
She, like most budding entrepreneurs-even the long-established ones, had tried everything to get the word out and make money. After all, making money…that IS one of the reasons for being an entrepreneur. Once she found her niche, everything changed!
I know it seems crazy, but the more you drill down from working with everybody to a specific population with similar needs, then your message is clearer and people in the niche find you. You can also easily go to where they hang out! In Debora’s case, writers’ associations, coffee shops…You get the picture…
People have commented, in email,Not by the Comment section below, about whether all my gratitude friends are solo-entrepreneurs? Of course not…But, people are attracted to like-minded people. We have similar interests, many are doing Internet Marketing…the list goes on! Do I have non-entrepreneurial friends/colleagues. Sure, many in the Careers industry who work in colleges and others’ whose eyes don’t glaze over when talking about business. Some do. Others don’t. DeBora “gets it” and we both are interested in growing our businesses and making a difference!
It is said that the 5 people you hang around with determine your level of success. Who do you hang out with? Are they at your level? Higher or lower? I want to be an acclaimed Author. DeBora knows how to edit and get my book published..
I coach midlife women, often possessing challenges, become successful in their transition as well as their lives! That’s the reason I do what I do…I love it.
We all have challenges but not all are disability-related. Are you in this group? Let’s talk…
