Tis the beginning of a new school term! It’s the end of summer and throwing off responsibilities.
I’m trading my clutter for organization! I hired an Organizer to help me create systems for handling every piece of paper that rears its ugly head in my office! And believe me, I’ve got lots of those paper-gremlins!
See, I am a pack-rat…And so is my husband! Though-I must admit-I’m the worst. See, I never know when I might need something! I’m a Career/Life Transitions Coach-an expert and write lots-this blog, chapters for books, articles…So, I have thousands of ideas!
So, we actually got lots done! I learned some organizing tips to stop drowning in paper!
1. Sort mail over a trashcan. Shred all with account numbers, names, addresses…
2. Treat begging letters( donation-pleas) as bills and decide ahead of time which charities you support. And don’t fall prey to keeping all those free address labels- who needs 7 sheets of 20 labels each?!!
3. Every piece of paper needs and must have a home. To be filed, put away, acted on immediately, entered in a calendar, or, in my case, put either in my current clients’ folder or past clients…
Longer term rules next! Stay tuned!
